About Yuko Sensei

From Yuko sensei to you.

Hello everyone,

Thank you very much for joining our "Japanese Language Course." My name is Yuko, and I am honored to be your instructor. I am truly delighted to have the opportunity to guide you through this learning experience and to help you achieve your language goals.

Through my own journey of learning multiple languages and living overseas, I have come to realize that language acquisition is not just about effort; it is about understanding the culture and the specific context behind the words. My international experience has given me a deep appreciation for the challenges of navigating a new tongue, and I believe this perspective will be invaluable as you embark on your journey to learn Japanese.

In my professional career across various environments, I have seen firsthand the vital importance of communication. I strongly believe that language is more than just a tool for information—it is a bridge that allows us to understand each other’s thoughts and feelings, connecting us across different backgrounds.

A key focus of this course is bridging the gap between formal textbook Japanese and the actual spoken language used in real-life situations in Japan. I am committed to supporting you in learning Japanese effectively, so you can feel confident applying it in everyday life. From daily conversation to business etiquette and Japanese customs, we will explore the richness of the language together.

I aim to provide a personalized and structured learning environment that suits your individual pace and objectives. Please never hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

I look forward to a productive and rewarding journey with all of you.

Best regards,

Yuko Japanese Teacher

My teaching history : Profile

Konnichiwa! (Hello!)

In the 1990s, I completed a 420-hour teacher training program certified by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs in Tokyo, training in the direct method and teaching students of many nationalities — I was already working as a part-time instructor before I'd even graduated. Soon after qualifying, I led two Japanese classes for a Japanese-affiliated company near Guangzhou, China.

Since then, I've taught in Japan and Australia — in small groups and one-on-one — using textbooks like Japanese for Busy People, Minna no Nihongo, Genki, and others. My students have ranged from businesspeople and doctors to TAFE teacher, high school teachers, mining professionals, consulate teacher and university and high school students. I bring both original materials and proven textbooks, tailored to each student's needs.

I also spent seven years teaching Japanese to children (ages 4–12) with overseas roots, grouping by level rather than age and using flashcards and fun materials to keep lessons enjoyable — always mindful of how easily kids can lose interest in language learning.

Marriage, career, and raising my own children kept me busy for a while, but now that things have settled down, I'm excited to return fully to the work I love: teaching Japanese.

I look forward to meeting you!

Isshoni ganbarimashou!! (Let's do our best together!!)
